She will be sadly missed by her husband of 56 years, James; by her children, Katherine (Chuck) Allen, Kristine (Michael) Fields, Karen Smith and Michael McMillen; by her ten grandchildren, Stephanie (Dan) Christner, Megan (Paul) Marquez, Samantha (Jon) Huskey, Gregory (Grace) Fields, James Patrick (Jennifer) Allen, Daniel Smith, Jenelle Fields, Sarah (Vincent) Mess, Nathaniel Fields and Ian McMillen; seven great-grandchildren; her step-grandchildren; her sisters, Joy (Fred) Sterner and Jean Fiscus; her brothers, Jim (Gayle) Harvey, Tim Harvey and Ted (Susan) Harvey; by her many cousins, nieces, nephews; and by her friends.
Lea graduated from Central High School in 1955 and from Southern Colorado State College in 1971. She retired from School District 70 in 1991 where she taught Art, English and Reading at Pueblo County and Rye High Schools. She was a former member of the Pueblo Choral Society, and an active member of the Pride City Quilt Guild. Lea was a talented artist, a gifted vocal musician and poet, an amazing quilter, a beloved and respected wife, mother, sister, and friend.
She will be greatly missed for the love she showed us, for her humor and good advice, for her conversation, and her intelligent insight. We will miss her ability to see the beauty around us and to translate it to the lovely paintings, drawings, poems, and quilts she so generously bestowed as gifts to all of us. She will be very sadly missed by the grandchildren she loved. This world will be forever a sadder place for us without her. We rejoice that she will be joining her parents and her Lord in Heaven.
