George N. Melonas, 79, passed away April 15, 2011. Survived by his wife of 60 years, Eileen; daughter, Karen (Robert) Mitchell of Denver; brothers, Bill (Barbara) of Pueblo and Milton (Josephine) of Colorado Springs; grandchildren, Brandon (Sarah) Mitchell of Maineville; Ohio Jeffrey Mitchell of Maldon, Mass. and Michelle (Randy) Peterson of Littleton, Colo.; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his son, Rodney; five sisters and one brother. George was born to Nicholas and Annie Melonas on April 26, 1931, in Walsenburg, Colo. He retired from CF&I as a forklift operator. He enjoyed old Western shows and carpentry. George was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in the Bishopric for several years and on the Stake High Council. He also served a mission in Fresno, Calif.
