BAUMBACH, Roger John, age 76, of Grand Blanc passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at Genesys Hospital.
Roger was born May 30, 1942, in Flint, Michigan.
On March 21, 1964, he married Cheryl Anderson, the love of his life and wife of 55
years.
He was a graduate of Grand Blanc High School and the proud owner of Palace Jewelers in Grand Blanc. He and his wife, Cheryl, successfully operated the business for the past 46 years,
carrying on the family tradition that began in 1932. As a third generation jeweler, Roger spent
spent his life doing watch, clock, and jewelry repair. He was humble, honest, ethical, generous,
and loyal to all who knew him. Roger loved to host cookouts where he enjoyed spirited debates
with anyone who had the stamina. He was also a deep thinker and problem-solver who enjoyed
tinkering and inventing, watching westerns, gambling, playing the lottery, betting on football, and lively discussions. He was a generous and loving father, husband, and grandfather.
Surviving are wife, Cheryl; children, Tina and husband, Steve McPherson; Jason Baumbach; Katie and husband, Rick White; and Kevin Baumbach; five grandchildren, Danielle and husband, Tom;
Samantha and husband, Mason; Sydney; Calvin; and Sela; great-grandchildren, Alexis and
Carson; brothers, Dick and wife, Mary; Ron and wife, Donna; Ray; Russ and wife, Tina;
sisters-in-law, Maria and Shirley; several special nieces, nephews, and many lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Virginia; sister, Carol and brother-in-law, John; brother, Bob and his wife, Nancy; brother, Randy, sister-in-law, Judy.
The funeral service will be held at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road , on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at 11:00 AM with Ernie Johnston officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Visitation will take place on Monday, January 21, 2019, from 11-12 for family and 12- 8 for public viewing. |
