PANNELL, Charles W. - Of Fenton, age 98, died Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Wellbridge of Fenton.
Funeral service will be held 1pm Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery with a Military Honors under the auspices of VFW #3087 Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Visitation 4-8pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
Charles was born in Marmaduke, Arkansas on June 24, 1919. He grew up in Arkansas and Flint, MI. Shortly after graduation from Lafe High School in Arkansas, he joined the United States Army and served in the Pacific front during World War II. After the war, he married Bernice A. Harris on January 18, 1946. Charles retired from General Motors-Buick Motor Division in Flint after 30 years of service. Charles was a member/Deacon at Lincoln Park Baptist Church, a former member of the Flint Woodcarvers Club and was a member of UAW Local 599. Mr. Pannell was also an avid Detroit Tigers fan, liked to travel and enjoyed playing cards.
Surviving are daughters, Barbara A. and husband William Robinson of Hope, Michigan and Beverly J. Shaw of Beavercreek, Ohio;
grandchildren, Jeffrey L. and wife Sandra Robinson of Madison, Wisconsin, Kimberly A. and husband Jeff Vanderwall of Linden and
Kelly A. and husband Dan O'Connor of Beavercreek, Ohio;
great-grandchildren, Avery and Mason Vanderwall and Emily and Danielle O’Connor;
nephew, Lynn Vowell and wife Glenda of Frisco, Texas;
and many great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice, parents, Charles and Naomi Pannell and sister, Olga Vowell.
