COMBER, William “Bill” David – of Davison, MI, age 88, passed away Friday, March 9, 2018. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service, with Military Honors, will be held 2 PM Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Shayne Kellogg Hodges officiating. Inurnment will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery on a later date. The family will receive visitors 11 AM-2 PM Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Genesee County or the Davison American Legion Post #267, in Bill’s memory.
Bill was born in Flint, MI on January 25, 1930, son of the late Vernon and Rosa (Taylor) Comber. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War era from 1951-1953, working at The Pentagon. Bill married Nancy Ann Barr on November 9, 1963 and she preceded him in death on September 17, 2013. He was the owner and operator of Comber’s Market. Bill retired as a groundskeeper from the Davison County Club in 2005. He was a member of the Davison American Legion Post #267, Davison Country Club, the First Church of Christ, Scientist, National Ski Patrol at Mt. Holly, Masonic Lodge F. & A.M., Elf Khurafeh Shrine, he had been active in aviation and was a charter member of the Davison Racquetball Club.
Bill is survived by 3 children, William David (Mary Jane) Comber II, Robert George Comber and Susan Marie (Dennis S.) Sharich; 8 grandchildren, Matthew, Katie (Andrew), Molly (David), Patrick (Kristen), Sean, Jeremy, Cassidy and Delaney; 4 great-grandchildren, Olivia, Avery, Liam and Declan; 3 siblings, Louise Mills, Dorothy (Don) Teasdale and John (Kathy) Comber; many other loving family members and friends.
