Carolyn E. Vernon age 84 of Durand, MI passed away on Monday, September 28, 2026 at Memorial Healthcare Center of Owosso. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM on Monday, October 5, 2026 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 700 Columbia Dr., Durand, MI 48429. Fr. Arockiyasamy Santhiyagu will be officiating. Family will receive friends on Sunday at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Durand Chapel from 5-8 PM and one hour prior to the service.
Carolyn Ellen Stevens was born on March 10, 1942 in Flint, MI a daughter of Michael and Margaret (Cole) Stevens. She was a graduate of St. Agnes Catholic School. On June 2, 1962 she married the love of her life, James Vernon. Carolyn enjoyed her dogs, flowers, sitting on the front porch drinking her coffee and spending time with her family. Prior to her retirement, she worked for NuVision for 22 years.
Carolyn is survived by her children, Brian (Stephanie) Vernon, Michael (Jennifer) Vernon, Cheryl (Steven) Pierce and Denise (Robert) Dennison; grandchildren, Matthew Vernon, Kara (Bradley) Gear, Jessica Spangler, Kyle David Pierce, Katelyn Marie (Jerry) Miller, Breanna Pierce and Brittany Pierce; 6 great grandchildren; and sister, Anne Boynton. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Vernon; and sister, Marry Herrick.
