Diane Marie Lewis

Born: 4/7/1952
Died: 6/18/2025
Age: 73
Community: Burton, MI

Diane Lewis of Burton passed away June 18, 2025. Diane was born April 7, 1952 in Flint Michigan to Douglas & Rosemarie Dodder. She grew up in Flint and attended St. Agnes Catholic School where she graduated in 1970. Diane enjoyed summers on North Lake at her grandmother's cabin when she was younger. There were many fun stories about the times she & her sister Roberta enjoyed there. It was there that she met Ken, with whom she shared daughter Amanda.

Diane worked for several attorneys throughout the years and made lasting friendships at those offices. Diane retired in 2022 working for Atty Robert Crites and Atty Paul Watson at the time, both of which she held in very high regard. She was the ultimate professional at work, but her bluntness and potty mouth were well known by her friends and family. Diane's most important title and the one she took most seriously was grandma. Diane was actively involved in her granddaughter Courtney's life. She attended most every sporting event, award ceremony, dress/school clothes shopping session as well as numerous other adventures Courtney could convince her to take part in. Diane was quick witted, funny, and had a great sense of humor. She was extremely nosey and needed to know all of the details about any neighborhood happenings or any events Amanda or Courtney may be involved in. Diane was opinionated and loyal. If she liked you, she made sure you knew it, and if she didn't, you knew that too. She was a meticulous housekeeper and was known for her extreme organization. The lady never saw a basket she didn't like. She always took pride in her home. It was a huge shock to everyone when Courtney convinced her to adopt her sweet CoCo from the shelter. She loved and spoiled her sweet little pitty so much. CoCo had her own fully stocked closet and a toy basket. Diane enjoyed walking the neighborhood with CoCo daily when she was in good health.

Diane was diagnosed with dementia in 2022. She remained in good spirits most days. In the beginning, she remained in her little home she loved, being cared for by her daughter Amanda and Melissa Roberts. A huge thanks to Melissa for her compassion, knowledge, and assistance with countless tasks over the years to assist with Diane's care. Eventually Diane moved to Assisted Living at The Pines Of Goodrich, where she received excellent care from an amazing staff!

Diane is survived by her dog CoCo, daughter Amanda, grandchildren Brandon & Courtney Smart and Trenten Fisher, brother in law Terry Noack, step sister Teresa Evans Wilson, former son in laws Ryan Mills and TJ Fisher, and her lifelong friend Christine Pinter Young. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Roberta Dodder-Noack and grandmother Madeline Pocza. The family would like to extend tremendous thanks to the staff at the Pines of Goodrich, Miss Diane loved so much and the care you provided to her was top notch. Thank you also to Swan Hospice, especially Nurse Andy and shower aid Jen.

A memorial service will be held 3pm Friday, June 27, 2025 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
