Douglas L. Tiderington, age 71 of Swartz Creek, MI passed away on January 2, 2026. A funeral gathering will be held from 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Dodds Dumanois Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 901 Garland St. Flint, MI 48503. Cremation to follow. Doug was born on January 15, 1954 in Detroit, MI, the son of David and Donna Tiderington. Douglas was a graduate of Byron High School in 1972, then proudly serviced 3 years in the United States Army. In 1976 he started working at General Motors, Local 659, and finished his 38-year career with the International UAW, retiring in 2014. He was active with helping veterans and was proud to be a veteran. Douglas grew up playing hockey, baseball and football. He enjoyed years of coaching hockey and playing softball. Douglas was an avid Michigan Wolverine fan, and disliked Ohio State Buckeyes, who he referred to as the hairless nuts. He was also a fan of the Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Lions. In October of 2000, he was joined in marriage to his love Valorie. Douglas was a loving generous man and always willing to help anyone. He loved his family very much and was very involved in his children and grandchildren's lives. Doug is survived by his wife Valorie, daughter Holly, sons Matthew and Michael (Lindsy), stepson Matthew (Kim), stepdaughters Julie and Heather, grandchildren Emily, Hailey, Jessica, Kaitlyn, Brennen, Andilyn, Ethan, Hanna, Josh, Joey, great grandchildren Ave, Lyla, Cole, Poppy, Isabelle, and Emmett, brothers David (Ellen) and Devon and extended family. Doug was preceded in death by his parents David and Donna, brother Donald, sister Kimberly and grandson Brett. To honor Douglas please feel free to wear Michigan Wolverine, Detroit Red Wings or Detroit Lions attire. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a veteran's organization. |
