Swick, James R. of Flushing, age 87, passed away Monday, February 12, 2018, at McLaren-Flint. The family will be receiving visitors at Rossell Funeral Home on Saturday, February 17, 2018, from 1-3 p.m. at which time there will be a Memorial service that Daniel Hays will officiate.

James was born in Flint, Michigan on May 20, 1930, the son of Arthur and Amy (Mann) Swick and has resided in Flushing his entire life. He was a graduate of Flushing High School, Class of 1948, and then attended Flint Community College and Michigan State College (MSU) from 1948 to 1952. He married Kathleen Weisgerber with whom he had two children, Thomas and Cynthia. He later remarried Mata Stout. She preceded him in death. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Jim hired in at Chevy in the Hole in 1948, and had also worked at Fisher Body 1 and retired from Buick Data Processing in 1985. Jim has enjoyed traveling the world, including five continents. He enjoyed attending concerts, musicals and shows throughout the country including the Whiting, Fox and Capital theaters. Jim was a huge Lawrence Welk fan. He also loved watching sports, including, the Lions, Tigers, and especially Michigan State. He was a loving father and grandfather who will truly be missed.

Jim is survived by his children, Thomas Swick and Cynthia Newman; grandchildren, Chloe and Jeffrey.
