Bowen, David, of Flushing, age 71, died Saturday, August 16, 2025, at his home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2025, at Rossell Funeral Home. Pastor Tyge Zucker will officiate. Burial will follow at Flushing Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. Friday until the time of the service at 11 a.m. at Rossell Funeral Home.
David was born in Flint, Michigan on January 4, 1954, the son of Wesley and Elaine (Triechel) Bowen. He married Carolyn Brannam on August 10, 1990, and they recently celebrated 35 years of marriage. Dave was employed at A.C. Spark Plug which later became Delphi from 1972 until 2006. After retiring after 34 years, he went to work for Aerotek for another year. He loved his job at Delphi as a Pipefitter, where he made many lifelong friendships. They were a wonderful group of good guys and true friends.
Dave also spent the last 34 years going to Long Lake in Alpena, Michigan. It was always his first choice of “to go” places. This is where he was the happiest. Spending time with friends and family, just doing the simplest things. He loved playing Euchre. It was mostly for bragging rights, even though he was a serious card player. Dave enjoyed bowling for many years with the Delphi guys and loved his annual golf trip, The TOBY Open, which lasted for many years. He had a love for old cars, which he had a few. His favorite being a 1966 red Oldsmobile. In his younger years, Dave enjoyed playing softball with his guys from work. He was a wonderful, fun-loving man that was friends with everyone he met.
He fought an awful disease called P.S.P., a rare brain disease for the past five years. However, it started to affect him three years before that. Dave never complained, he swallowed his pride and tried living as normal a life as possible. He was a brave man who faced this disease head on.
Dave is survived by his wife, Carolyn; sisters, Janice (Mark Burgess) Eitel, Sheryl (Tom Thornton) Kulis; sisters-in-law, Linda (James) Ross, Rose (Bruce) Murdock, Diane Brannam; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
