Harold Wayne Stone, 75, of Blue Grass passed away Thursday, December 16, 2010 at Genesis East Medical Center Davenport. Funeral services will be 1:00PM Monday (12/20) at the Runge Mortuary. Burial will follow at Blue Grass Cemetery. Visitation is 3-6PM Sunday at the mortuary. On line condolences may be made at www.rungemortuary.com .
Harold was born May 31, 1935 in Ashley, MO to William J. & Jenny Linn (Tucker) Stone. He was united in marriage to Virginia Jones on June 30, 1963 in Davenport, IA.
Harold served in the US Army from 1958 to 1960. He had been employed at Brammers Manufacturing in Davenport for 43 years and was a maintenance supervisor when it closed. He went on to work another 14 years with A-L-L equipment in Moline, IL.
Harold was member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association and the Road Angels Car Club. Earlier in life he loved to work on cars and drag race at Cordova Speed way, built micro mini Tractors with his kids which they would enter in tractor pulls, and go touring with his wife on his Gold Wing motor cycle. He loved to fix up his bike and enter it in shows. More recently he converted his bike to a trike so he could keep riding.
Survivors include his wife Virginia Stone, Blue Grass, IA; Son Keith W. Stone (Donna Crawford), Maquoketa, IA; Daughter Shelly Lynn (Shaun) McGurk, Iowa City, IA; Grandchildren Megan & Brian McGurk; 1 brother William Lindy Stone, Sperry, IA; and many nieces & nephews.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, sister Catherine Jones & brothers Robert Earl, Harry, & Marvin Stone.
