HAMP, Michael Edward - age 80 of Flushing, passed away April 10, 2021. A Funeral Mass will be held at 12 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2021 at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 310 N. Cherry St., Flushing with Fr. Anthony Brooks celebrant. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, Thursday, April 15, 2021 3 p.m.-8 p.m. and at 11 a.m. on Friday prior to the Mass. A Vigil will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or Disabled American Veterans. Michael was born April 8, 1941 in Grand Rapids to Freeman and Martha (Steensma) Hamp. He married Martha J. Himmelberger on May 3, 1969 in Flint. Michael was a 1959 Flint Central graduate, and went on to further his education at Flint Junior College where he was a member of Delta Sigma Nu Fraternity. He finished his education at Western Michigan University where he received a Bachelor's Degree. He was on the WMU wrestling team. Michael served in the United States Army Reserves. He enjoyed a long, distinguished career as a business executive in computer technology and the finance industry. He was on the Board at Goodwill Industries. He helped to organize several events for multiple charitable organizations such as the Bosley Golf Tournament for Special Kids in Flint, MI and the Camp Quality Golf Tournament in Boyne for many years. Michael is survived by his wife, Martha; children, James Hamp, Mary (Albert) Kang, Jonathon Hamp, and Peter (Mindy) Hamp; grandchildren, Isabelle, Andrew, Joshua, and Penelope; siblings, Timothy Hamp, Daniel Hamp, Nicholas Hamp, and Julie Hamp; nieces and a nephew; and many dear friends. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Freeman and Martha Hamp; and brother, Pat Hamp.
