It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Betty Jean (Meadows) Mayer. She passed away peacefully on April 8th 2026. Betty was born on March 24, 1933 in Princeton West Virginia to the late Oliver and Norma Meadows. She was the youngest of their three children. As an adult she moved to Michigan where she met and married the love of her life René Mayer on January 3, 1959 in Flint Michigan. They moved to Goodrich in 1968 where they raised their five children. Together they were instrumental in establishing St. Mark's Catholic Church.
Betty was a talented organist and the first musical director at St. Marks. She faithfully played the organ every Sunday for many years. She studied music at Mott Community College.
Betty was never a fan of Michigan winters and enjoyed spending her winters in Floridia where she and René were avid ballroom dancers and belonged to the bridge club. Her talents were many but cooking for her family after Sunday Mass was always her favorite. She is proceded in death by her husband of 60 years René Mayer, daughter Shiela Welch, brother Bill, sister Doris and son in law Ray Gamelin. She leaves behind her children Monique (Bill) Robinson, Cheryl Gamelin, Micheal (Michelle) Mayer, Cynthia (Greg) Richmond, son in law Donald Welch, 15 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
