Jeanne Irene Melton 93, of The City of Flint, Passed away on Thursday, April 9th 2026 @ Henry Ford Hospital Genesys in Grand Blanc, Michigan.

Funeral services will be held at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses 1805 Lapeer Road, on April 25th, 2026 at 1 p.m. with a bible discourse to be given. Jeanne will be cremated prior to service as was her wish.

Jeanne Irene (Cobb) Melton was born to Otis C. Cobb and Mary Estelle (Thompson) Cobb in Jackson, Michigan on September 19, 1932. She was the fifth of six children, with four older sisters and one younger brother. She grew up in a predominately polish neighborhood. She attended school in Jackson, Michigan at Jackson High School. Jeanne worked as a telephone operator at Belle South for a few years. She met the love of her life at the soda fountain, while he was stationed at Fort Custer. On her wedding day her father had a massive stroke; she went to the hospital in her wedding dress to see her father before she moved to Cleveland, Ohio. She Moved to Flint, Michigan when her husband landed a job at General Motors. This marriage produced 3 beautiful children: Gene Raymond, Helynn Louise, and James Edward. Jeanne loved her family very much. She was married for 69 ½ years before the death of her husband. She worked as a housekeeper to help with family finances. Jeanne learned the truth about Jehovah from her older sister Carlene and studied with sister Velma H Audrey P. Jeanne was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in November 1958. She served Jehovah faithfully for 67 years, she trained up her children and grandchildren to have a love for Jehovah and bible truths. Jeanne loved taking candid photos of people, Playing basketball with her grandkids in the driveway. She loved assisting individuals to come to love Jehovah and help them progress to baptism. She traveled with her husband and family on many vacations. Jeanne is survived by her sister Carlene J. Shaw, Daughter Helynn L Mitchell, and Son James (Susan) Melton, Her 8 Grandchildren- Raymond (Michelle) Melton; Amanda Mitchell, Jennifer (Kevin) Hobson; Geneyce Melton; Elijah (Ciera) Melton; Donovan Aleman; Nigel Melton; Julian Melton. 9 Great-Grandchildren- Kevin (Kameran) Hobson, Brooklynn Hobson, Jordan Melton, Alana Melton, Marley Aleman, Dahlia Aleman, Jalen Aleman, Alayah Melton, Omri Melton, and a host of Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in Death by her husband Raymond Hayworth Melton, Sisters Anna Ruth “Florance Earnestine Guy” Cheek, Brother-in-law Harland Cheek, Sister Helen Clarisse Baltimore, Brother-in-law Eddie Baltimore, Sister Lorraine Marie Brown Brother-in-law Buster Brown, Brother-in-law John Shaw and Brother Carl Otis Cobb, and Both Parents Otis and Mary Cobb.
