DOWD, Leonard "Johnny" - of Montrose, age 86, died Friday, December 19, 2014. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM Monday, December 22, 2014, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Montrose. Burial to follow in Montrose Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-8 PM where a rosary will be prayed at 6 PM. He will lie in state at the church on Monday from 9 AM until time of Mass at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan. Johnny was born October 24, 1928 in Saginaw to the late Edward and Cecilia (Ratza) Dowd and lived in Montrose all of his life. He had served in the US Navy and was retired from Complete Auto Transport. He enjoyed farming and old tractor shows. Surviving are: children; Paul F. & Mary Dowd of Montrose, Ed & Anna Lee Dowd of Montrose, Kevin & Judge M. Cathy Dowd, Donna Marie & Bob Ross of Montrose, Steven & Jenny Dowd of Burt, Karen Reynolds & Kent Kraynek of Montrose. He had many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends. He was also preceded in death by; wife, Donna Jean (Harpst) Dowd; first daughter, Loretta; and sons, John Ray and Peter Joseph Dowd.
