KERN, Richard William – of Clio, age 76, died Sunday, April 4, 2021 at his residence. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Clio. Vicar Adam Flanick officiating. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, April 8, 2021 from 11:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Messiah Lutheran Church.

Richard was born March 27, 1945 in Flint, Michigan to the late Elmer and Florence (Murphy) Kern. He grew up in Clio, Michigan and graduated from Clio High School with the class of 1964. Richard served his country in the US Navy during Vietnam. On October 15, 1966 he married Patsy Lowell in Thetford Township. Prior to his retirement in 1997, Richard worked for GM with 30 years of service. He was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church where he served as an Usher for several years. Richard was a member of the Goldwing Riders Association. He enjoyed hunting, motorcycling, fishing, gardening, and doing word finds.

Surviving are: Wife of 54 years Patsy Kern; Children, Christopher (Angela) Kern, Loralee (Michael) Pillsbury; Grandchildren, Amber (Giles) Kern, Ashtyn Kern, Keith Pillsbury, Patricia Pillsbury; Great Grandchildren, Finley Weiss; Siblings, Barbara (Ron) Johnson, Bob (Cheri) Kern; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents; Siblings, Michael (Carol) Kern, Beverly (Craig) LeClair; Niece, Louann Kalaquin.
