STEINER, Yola R. of Flint, age 100, passed away Friday, January 30, 2026, at her residence.
Funeral service will be held at 1pm Thursday, February 5, 2026, at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Pastor Steve Wood officiating.
Visitation 12Noon Thursday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Burial in Flushing Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Heart-to-Heart Hospice or Brookdale Assisted Living Holiday Fund.
Yola was born in Flint, Michigan on October 26, 1925, the daughter of the late Dominic and Elizabeth Romito, and was a resident of Flint her entire life. She graduated from Flint Northern High School, Class of 1943 and attended Houghton College in Houghton, New York, where she majored in music. Yola’s long-standing love of music greatly enriched her life. She returned to Flint and worked for over thirty years as an X-ray Technician and office manager for X-ray Consultants. On August 9, 1980, she married Clifford Steiner, and he preceded her in death on June 17, 2012. Yola was a faithful member of North Baptist Church and was also an active member of Women’s National Farm and Garden-Flint Branch. She served as treasurer for many years. Known for her warmth and her gracious ways, Yola was a special friend to many.
Surviving are stepsons, Charles Steiner of Waterford, MI and Douglas (Karen) Steiner of Fort Mill, S.C.;
sister, Alice German;
and a host of nieces, nephews and a special thank you to close friends, Valdemar and Ada Washington.
She was preceded in death by stepdaughter, Susan Meisner, sisters, Celia Dobbs, Mary Johnson, and Pat Romito.
Special thanks to Brookdale staff, table mates and residence friends, Dr. Braver, Heart-to-Heart Hospice, and other special friends, Beverly, Sharon, Vickie, Kathy and many others.
