Robert Reed - Of Flint, age 66 passed away Saturday, September 18th, 2021 at his residence. Cremation has taken place, Memorial service will be held 11am Friday, September 24, 2021 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Bishop Jeffrey Lambert officiating.
Visitation 5-8 pm Thursday, and 10 am Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Not all Heroes wear capes and have fancy names. They are often called friend, coach, teacher, uncle, brother, Dad. Robert Reed was a hero to many, born and raised in Genesee County, Robert was a graduate of Flushing High School where his love for sports began. He excelled in cross country, wrestling, and track and field. After Graduation he served in the United States Navy where he became a corman on board the USS. Nassau. After service he started a lifelong and loved career at Mclaren Hospital in the Orthopedics Department. He served and taught there for over 40 years. Through the years of his beloved son’s growing he re-developed his passion for sports and coaching. Spending over 20 years coaching in the county, Robert touched many lives, helping everyone he met, even competitors, be the best they could be, a true gift. Robert will be missed by all.
He is survived by his son: Crystufer Reed and Wife Emily Reed, Siblings: Mike and Mary Lou Reed, Kathy Putney, Billy and Sue Reed, Ron Reed, Jill and Bobby Kendrick, Daniel Reed, Gary and Gail Reed, and many other extended family members including aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by: Brother-in-law Clarence Putney, Sister Nancy Reed, Sister-in-law Delores Reed, Sister-in-law Debbie Reed and his parents William and Donna Jean Reed.
