Mr. LaVerne Raymond "Bud" Wellendorf, 92, of Davenport, died peacefully on Monday, December 20, 2010 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 28, 2010 from 4-6pm at Runge Mortuary in Davenport. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 2:30pm at Runge Mortuary. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Davenport. Online condolences may be left at www.therungemortuary.com.
Bud was born on January 5, 1918 in Downers Grove. He was the son of Arthur and Mamie Wellendorf. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Betty Irene Wellendorf and 6 brothers and 2 sisters. After serving in the Navy in WWII, Bud started his own business as a mason contractor. He built many beautiful homes, fireplaces and stonewalls throughout the Quad-City area.
The family would like to thank Lighthouse Homecare for their continued support and caregiving. We appreciate all the staff, but especially Candy, Latisha, Ashley, Lynn, Michele, Bibian, Jasmine, Latesha, Sally and Jen.We would also like to thank Jody from Genesis Home Health as well as Shelly from Guardian Care.
Those left to honor his memory include his sons: Craig Wellendorf of Davenport, David Wellendorf and wife Callie of Marshall, North Carolina and his daughter Leigh Ballard and husband Scott of Huntington, West Virginia. Other survivers include his grandchildren: Kerri Wellendorf, Kyle and Daniel Wellendorf, and Quinn and Corey Ballard as well as his brother Donald Wellendorf.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, The American Cancer Society or The Alzheimers Association.
