Laura Lee Vroman, age 82, of Durand, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2026, at Argentine Care Center.

She was born on October 19, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Harold Russell Ludwig and Frances Jane Weathers. Laura lived a life marked by faith, kindness, and devotion to the people she loved. She was a Christian woman whose gentle spirit and loving nature touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Laura was a high school graduate and carried herself throughout her life with grace, dignity, and a strong sense of purpose. On July 5, 1979, she married Charles Octave Vroman, and together they shared many years of love and companionship. She dearly loved her husband, Charles, who was known to many as her Gem; and their life together was built on devotion, respect, and enduring affection.

Laura was very active in the Byron Methodist Church and very active in the United Methodist Women; her faith was an important part of her daily life. She loved to read scripture and found joy in sharing her beliefs with others through her actions and her example. She volunteered with vacation Bible school, helped with all the children’s programs, she was also a Girl Scout Leader, and always giving of herself to encourage and guide young hearts. She was happiest when she was helping others and doing what she could to make people smile.

Her interests reflected the warmth and creativity that defined her life. Laura loved to sing, and she also enjoyed baking, especially the extravagant wedding cakes she made with care and skill. She could sew clothing and took pride in being a very traditional lady who was always put together. She appreciated the simple beauty of a well-kept home, a thoughtful gesture, and a kind word. Her family and friends will always remember her as loving, faith-filled, and gentle.

Laura is survived by her children, Robin (Dave) Battishill, Pamela (Joe) Robinson-Love, Larry (Nancy) Watch, Starlene (Bill) Sullivan, and Steve Vroman. She is also survived by her sisters, Betty Meade and Cheryl (Bill) Russell, along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who will carry forward her memory with love and gratitude.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Russell Ludwig and Frances Jane Weathers, her husband, Charles Octave Vroman, and her sister, Maryann. Though her family grieves her loss, they take comfort in knowing that her life was a beautiful reflection of faith, devotion, and love.

Laura’s legacy will live on in the lives she touched, the lessons she taught, and the example she set through her steady kindness and unwavering faith. She will be remembered for her gentle heart, her loving ways, and the joy she brought to those around her.
