Our Precious Angel, Megan Marie Shands, 30 of Barryton and formerly of Swartz Creek, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2021 at the MidMichigan Medical Center in Midland. She was born May 1, 1990, the most beloved daughter of Wayne and Carol (Neal) Shands. Megan grew up in Swartz Creek and attended the Marion Crouse Instructional Center in Flushing. A beautiful soul, she loved all and was loved by all in return. Megan always had a smile on her face to show how happy she was. No one was ever a stranger to her, and she had a persistence to make everyone her friend. Megan loved her friends and family, but she had a special relationship with her brother and best friend, Brandon. She enjoyed going on walks, trail rides, and pontoon rides, but she especially loved swimming. Nothing gave Megan more joy than being with people and always having a hand to hold.
Left to cherish her memory are her parents, Wayne and Carol Shands; brother, Brandon Shands; one aunt; several cousins; and many friends at McBride Adult Foster Care #3 in Barryton. Megan was preceded in death by her grandparents, aunts, and uncle.
Funeral services will take place 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2021 from Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Chapel, 1200 West Wheeler Street. Committal rites will take place at 2 p.m. on Tuesday in Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Megan’s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a charity of their choice in Megan’s Memory. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, those that are not able to be in attendance at the funeral or visitation may leave a condolence message via Megan’s obituary page at www.wswfh.com.
