Michael D. Smith age 74 of Flint, MI, passed away June 26, 2021. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 am, Friday, July 2, 2021 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 2500 N. Franklin Ave., Flint. Burial and a graveside service will be held in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, MI, 9 am Tuesday, July 6, 2021. Michael was born May 1, 1947 in Saginaw, MI, the son of Norman and Beatrice Smith. Michael was joined in marriage to Linda Campbell in 1977. He authored two books, enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren how to play Chess. He was very instrumental in raising and making his grandchildren a big part of his life. Michael was an avid U of M fan, was a very outgoing and nice person and a Vietnam Veteran. He is survived by his wife Linda, children Melissa (Richard) Hutchinson, Aaron (Deanna) Smith, Michelle Smith, Alex Smith and fiance Trista, 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, siblings Norman Smith, Kathy Syrian, Linda McDaniel, and Susan Smith. Michael was preceded in death by his parents.
