Leslie Amil Beals, age 79, of Grand Blanc, Michigan, was called home to be with his Lord on Saturday, October 24, 2020. Les was born June 30, 1941 in Flint, Michigan, to the late Bud and Maydell Beals. A proud graduate of Bentley High School, Les was a musician, athlete, and student leader. During his college years at Olivet University, Les played baseball and traveled his summers with a quartet singing group. Pursuing a degree in engineering, he transferred his studies to GMI in Flint where he graduated in 1967. Les worked for GM for 13 years before transitioning to project manager at Rhodes and Johnson Construction and then later, White Construction where he worked (in semi-retirement) until this year. In 1962, Les married his highschool sweetheart, Mary Blakemore. Everyone agrees: It was the best decision he ever made. Les was a follower of Christ and served Him faithfully. He was a life-long member of South Flint Church of the Nazarene where he played the organ or piano (just about) every Sunday for 65 years, and served on the church board for most of that time. He enjoyed more than anything spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Les was a loving, faithful, steadfast man of God, and will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife, Mary Beals; children: Bradley (Heidi) Beals, Joel (Patricia) Beals, Julie Beals; grandchildren: Charlie (Kyria), Lewis, Maxwell, Hudson, Eva, Elizabeth, Nina, Bennett, Jon; great grandson Zander Amil; brother, Chuck Beals. A visitation for Les will be held Tuesday, October 27, 2020 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at West Flint Church of the Nazarene, 2254 S. Dye Road, Flint, Michigan. The funeral service will follow immediately at 2:00 PM. We request that you wear masks and practice social distancing while in the building. Burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Blanc, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Les's memory may be made to Eastside Mission, P.O. Box 90238, Burton, Michigan 48509.
