TAYLOR, Rita Joan – Of Swartz Creek, age 81, died Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Ascension Genesys Hospital, with family present.
Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2021 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Paul Holland and Grandson, Brett Cummins officiating.
Cremation has taken place.
Those desiring may make contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Visitation 12 p.m. Monday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Rita was born in Gideon, Missouri on November 16, 1939, the daughter of the late Thurman B. and Gladys J. (Lewis) Hamilton.
On March 24, 1958 she married Alvin Dale Taylor in Hernando, Mississippi.
She was a member of Swartz Creek Church of Christ.
She was very athletic, loved to bowl, golf and run. She ran a half marathon and the Crim with her family.
Rita loved her family; especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was very faithful and devoted to her church family and friends. She had many good, close friends, whom she traveled, played cards and had lunch with.
Surviving are 3 children, Sherry (Brad Arnold) Cummins, Lisa (Chet) Marlin and Jeff (Vickie) Taylor;
grandchildren, Brett (Rosanna) Cummins, Natalie (Juan) Sanchez, Adam (Jennifer) Whalls, Chad (Sydney) Whalls, Kyle (Sarah) Taylor, Beckie (Jason) Broughton, Trent (Lauren Wilding) Taylor;
great-grandchildren, Breanna, Olivia, Juan, Antonio, Angelica, Leah, Harper, Carter, Landon, Anna, Remi, Sam and Joanie on the way.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin D. Taylor; brother, Jimmy and sister, Mary Lou “Mickey”.
