HOWD, Mark David - Age 76, of Gaines, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2025. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, April 28, 2025 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek (the service will be live streamed and can be viewed via Mark's obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com). Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Sunday from 2-8 PM and Monday from 11AM until the time of the service. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society.
Mark was born November 7, 1948 in Flint, the son of Howard and Dorothy (Freeland) Howd. He was a 1967 graduate of Flint Central High School. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Army. He married Katherine Joyce Howe January 26, 2013 in Grand Blanc. Mark has resided in Gaines since 1977 coming from Flint. He retired in 2007 from GM-AC Spark Plug/Delphi after 40 years of service. He was a member of the U.A.W. Local 651, Burton Eagles, H.O.G. and was a former member of the V.F.W. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, going to the casinos, golfing, fishing, gardening and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are: his wife, Katherine; children, Susan (Brian) Negele of Tennessee, Brent (Donna) Howd of Millington, Brett Howd of Swartz Creek and Lindsay (Donnie) Couch of California; grandchildren, Shane Murphy, Chorissa (Derrick) Markee, Mackenzi Howd, Skylor (Donte) Cervantes, Ryley Couch and Mason Couch; great grandchildren, Madalyn, Austin, Mason, Sophia, Amira, Mazikeen, Iris and Elix; siblings, Jeanette Young, Howard "Butch" (Penny) Howd and Elizabeth "Dot" (Larry) Freeman; sister-in-law, Genevieve Crowe; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Dorothy Howd; first wife, Marlene (Bryan) Howd; siblings, Al Crowe, Jim Crowe and Joyce Pettey. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. |
