Rex D. Burpee
Age 69 of New Lothrop passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2015.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Nelson-House Funeral Homes New Lothrop Chapel with Pastor David Miller officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2:00 to 8:00pm.
Rex was born on November 30, 1945 to Bernard and Rhoda (Riley) Burpee. During the Vietnam War, he served in the United States Army. He also worked for General Motors for much of his life.
Rex loved being outdoors, especially when he was fishing or hunting. He also was instrumental in starting the Youth Pool League in Shiawassee County, and he volunteered with the league for over 10 years.
Rex is survived by his children, Rex Burpee, Janeen (Robert) Bartholomew, James Burpee, Rebekah (Richard) Beers, Melissa (David) Huen, Tonya (Gary) Haas, and Nathan Burpee, as well as his 22 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; 2 sisters Sandy and Diane.
He is predeceased by his parents, grandchild Devon Burpee and sister Sharon Walworth.
