MATTE, Earl N. - Of Flint, age 88, died Sunday, August 17, 2025
at his residence.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11am Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church, 4133 Calkins Road, Flint,
Bishop Gregory Mansour and Father Pierre Bassil co-celebrating.
Contributions may be made to Our Lady of Lebanon Catholic Church.
Visitation 9:30am Saturday at church until the time of the Mass.
Earl was born in Flint, Michigan on December 10, 1936 the son of the late Earl and Mildred (Kienman) Matte. He graduated from St Michael High School in Flint. On November 22, 1972 he married Mary Wild at Sacred Heart Church in Flint. Earl attended Seminary School at Sacred Heart in Detroit and St. John Provincial Seminary. He was ordained in 1962. His assignments were Chaplain for the Catholic Deaf Association for Lansing Diocese; Assistant at St. Pius X in Flint and St. Joseph in Owosso. He also served for the State of Michigan 1972-1985 at the School for the Deaf Vocational Rehabilitation as Counselor. Earl was Pastoral Minister in 1985 for Holy Redeemer Flint and St. Roberts in Flushing, retiring in 2003. He was a member of Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church where he was Sub-Deacon for the past many years.
Surviving are wife, Mary and her brother, Jack Wild;
brother, Gregory and wife Rainelle;
many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David.
