He was born on July 6, 1942, in Shepherd, Michigan, and lived a life marked by adventure, faith, and a deep appreciation for the beauty of the world around him.
Roberto was a Christian of the Catholic faith whose life reflected the values he held most dear. He was a spirited and adventurous man who approached each day with curiosity, strength, and a steady sense of purpose. He had a way of making those around him feel the warmth of his presence, and he was known for his faith-filled outlook and his appreciation for the simple, meaningful gifts of life. His love of nature was one of the defining joys of his life, and he found peace and wonder in the world outdoors.
He was a veteran in the U.S Army during Vietnam and when he returned he was employed with Hurley Hospital for 16 years, worked at group homes and then owned his own non emergency medical transport company.
One of Roberto’s treasured memories was the cherry tree that had been flown in from Japan, a living symbol of his admiration for nature and the special things that brought beauty into a home and family life. He valued moments spent in the natural world and carried a deep respect for the life growing around him.
Roberto was preceded in death by his parents, Serapio Barajas and Antonia (Almandarez) Barajas, and by other beloved family members who held a special place in his heart. Those who welcomed him in death include sisters Juanita and Harold Rushing, Yolanda Carroll, his brothers Roman Barajas and his wife Esther, Ruben Barajas and his wife Joyce, Ralph Barajas, brother-in-law Daniel Gomez and sister-in-law Judy Barajas.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ernestine Barajas, who for 40 shared in the journey of his life and the many memories they created together. He also leaves behind his children, Matt and his wife Jen Barajas, Shawn Barajas, Eric Barajas and fiance Kaytie Soderblom. Roberto was a proud grandfather to Kevin, Trevor, Lucas, Chase, Mission, Hayden, and Izabella, along with many great great grandchildren who brought him joy and pride, brothers Jessie Barajas and wife Bonnie, Rudy Barajas, and sister Gliora Gomez. His family was a source of strength and meaning throughout his life, and he cherished the bonds that connected generations together.
Roberto’s life was one of enduring love, steady faith, and a remarkable spirit that touched the lives of many. He will be remembered for his adventurous heart, his love of the outdoors, and the quiet wisdom he shared with those around him. His presence will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. |
