Ollie Lee Fryer Jr., age 69, of Flint, passed away Friday, September 8, 2023, at his home.
Ollie was born May, 30, 1954, in Hughes, Arkansas to Mr. & Mrs. Ollie and Vera Mae (Mosley) Fryer Sr. Ollie attended and graduated from Northwestern High School where he furthered his passion and interest in money management Ollie worked for Citizens Bank for twenty-eight years until his retirement in 2000, and thoroughly enjoyed the relationships he built and connections made during this time. In his free time, Ollie could be found watching the History Channel, reading, and playing cards with some of his best friends. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family; especially his five children and eight grandchildren. Those who knew Ollie will remember him by his quick wit, his readily available historical facts, and recounts of his tales growing up in Arkansas and Michigan. Ollie was hard working, at times stubborn, but one of the most loving sons, brothers and fathers anyone could ask for.
Ollie was preceded in death by his grandparents Luther and Allie Fryer, Washington and Gertrude Mosley; Father, Ollie Fryer Sr.; Brother Earl Fryer; Grandson DaJuan Moore; Uncles, Samuel Mosley, John Mosley, and Samuel Fryer; Special cousins and friends, Sam Mosley, Tommie Baker, and Rudie Johnson.
Those left to cherish his memory are his five loving children: Ollie Moore III, Varnell Poplar, Christopher Fryer, Victoria (Bryndan) Arnold, and Alexander Fryer; his eight grandchildren: Ollie Moore IV, Ollie Moore IV, Azaria Poplar, Aleyah Poplar, Christina Fryer, Cali Fryer, Alexander Fryer Jr., and Isaiah Arnold; Mother, Vera Fryer; and siblings Willie Fryer, Edward Fryer, Anita Fryer, Anthony (Saundra) Fryer, Sheronda (Walter) Tipton, Valerie (Ronnie) Williams, Aaron Fryer, and Helen Calhoun; Aunts Hattie Gatewood, Doris Jordan, Mary Mitchell, and Ceola Mosley; Special friends Camelia Williamson, Norphlet Reeves Jr., and Jerry Batson.
Ollie’s family will be present to receive friends from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday, September 18, 2023, at Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E. Hill Rd.,Grand Blanc, Michigan 48439. Tuesday, September 19, Ollie will lie in state from 11:30 am until the time of his funeral service at 12:00 pm at Brown Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Flint Memorial Cemetery.
