GRIGGRY, Gladys Kathleen – Of Flint, age 92, died Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Genesys Regional Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Steve Wood officiating.
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to the charity of one’s choice.
Visitation 12 noon Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Kathleen was born in Leachville, Arkansas on January 23, 1926,
the daughter of Benjamin and Gladys Askins.
She married Houston Griggry on November 6, 1942 in Beech Grove, Arkansas.
Mrs. Griggry was employed by AC Spark Plug Division for 25 years retiring in 1976.
Kathleen was an avid crocheter and a great southern host; enjoyed special dinners with her family and friends. She loved gardening and digging in the dirt.
She was fascinated by all things in nature.
Surviving are daughter, Michele and husband Craig Burnett of Davison;
son-in-law, Jack Ward of Germantown, Tennessee,
grandchildren, Philip (Claudia) Ward, Curtis (Ginny) Ward, Alaina (Spencer)Green and Houston Burnett;
great-grandchildren, Taylor and Jacob Ward, Jack and Caroline Ward;
5 sisters, Geneva Edwards, Mary Smith, Faye (DeWayne) Towell, Frankie (Jerry) Jetton and Shyrl (Stan) Bailey; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Houston, on January 27, 2011; son, Curtis Houston Griggry, on November 1, 1975; daughter, Elsie Ward, on November 26, 2017; her parents; 2 sisters and brother.
