MURRAY, Joyce L. "Jay" – Of Flint, age 89, died Sunday, March 25, 2012 at his residence. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2012 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Gary Beck officiating. Burial in Flushing Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made towards the family's wishes. Visitation 10 a.m.– 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Mr. Murray was born in Flushing, Michigan on April 21, 1922. On September 1, 1945, he married Thelma VanArsdale and she preceded him in death on November 26, 2008. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. Mr. Murray was a driver for Anchor Motor Freight before working at General Motors Ternstedt for 27 years. Surviving are his six children, Brooxie "Kewin" and husband Brian Jones, Permelia "Pam" and husband Floyd Muma, Randy and wife Rosemary Murray, Terry and wife Rena Murray, Lucretia and Troy Casto, Kim Murray; 24 grandchildren;
26 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Donna Stephens, Betty and husband Jerry Way; many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Robert "Nick" Murray; great-granddaughter, Paige T. Murray; 3 brothers, Harry, Harold and Leo Murray; 2 sisters, Lucille McKenzie and Hazel Pettys. Your condolences may be shared with the family at www.swartzfuneralhomeinc.com.
