Johnnie Ray Butler, age 84, of Flint, Michigan, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026.
He was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend, as well as a devout Christian whose life was guided by faith and kindness. Johnnie Ray will be remembered for his warm and caring demeanor and his remarkable ability to make friends with anyone he met. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures, including riding motorcycles through northern Michigan, taking long walks in nature, and attending car shows. Above all, he cherished spending time with his wife and especially enjoyed the day trips they took together. In his youth, Johnnie Ray was an accomplished speed roller skater, competing at the national level and earning several medals and awards. He later dedicated 30 years of service to Buick City before retiring.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley;
daughter, Christy;
son, Michael;
one grandson, and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road in Flint, Michigan, on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., with visitation beginning at noon.
Johnnie Ray will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
