FARR, Elwin G. – of Birch Run, age 98, died on Sunday, May 16, 2021, at Covenant HealthCare of Saginaw. Private funeral services will be held Thursday, May 20, 2021 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Birch Run. Burial will be at 12:30PM in Flint Memorial Park with full military honors. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1PM until 8PM. Masks are still required at the funeral home for those that are not fully vaccinated.
Elwin was born October 30, 1922 in Clio, Michigan to the late Bela and Ethel (Wymer) Farr. He retired from Buick in 1977 with over 30 years of service. Mr. Farr is a U.S. Army Veteran and served from July of 1943 until December of 1945 in the Philippines. He married Wilma Jean Decker on April 9, 1949 in Flint. She preceded him in death February 10, 2019. Upon retirement, they moved to Gladwin. Elwin enjoyed woodworking, traveling, playing Euchre, and spending time with his family. Above all, he loved being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are: Daughters: JoAnn Langmaid of Birch Run, and Jill Farr of Millington; Son, Ralph (Julie) Farr of Millington; Daughters in law: Debra Farr of Flushing, and Robin Farr of Clio; Grandchildren: Charlotte (Eric) Minar, Nate (Nicole) Farr, Nicole (Nick) Atkin, Matthew (Lisa) Farr, Amy Farr, Jessica (Alex) Benoit, Jeremy (Stephanie) Farr, Andrea (Draven) Curell, and Hunter Farr; Step grandchildren: Heather Meachem, Amanda Mitchell, and Amy Mitchell; Great grandchildren: Sawyer, Charlie, Riley and Jace Atkin, Hailey and Gabriel Farr, Madelyn and Hayden Farr, Grayson Benoit, Abbygail and Leona Curell, and 2 on the way; Step great grandchildren: Jeffrey, Evan, Aiden, Mackenzie, and Leigha; Brother, Merton Farr; Sisters: Eileen Wiederhold, Lou Collins, and Donna Moore. Elwin was also preceded in death by: Sons: Rodney Farr, and Raymond Farr; Son in law, Robert Langmaid; Grandson, Christopher Langmaid.
