In loving memory of Nancy Lou (McGee) Spain, age 85 of Flint, MI, passed away October 10, 2026. Funeral service will be held 1:00 PM, Thursday, October 15, 2026 at Dodds Dumanois Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 901 Garland St. Flint, MI 48503. Family will receive visitors from 10:00 AM Thursday until the time of the service. Pastor Paul Klinkenberger officiating. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery. Nancy was born and raised in Franklin, TN to George and Johnnie (Vaughn) McGee. She was the fourth of six children and the last surviving member of her family. In 1957, Nancy married the love of her life Robert Howard Spain and in 1961 they moved to Flint, MI where they built a life together and raised their six children. Although she made Michigan her home, she never forgot her Tennessee roots and returned every year to visit her family. She dedicated many years to raising her children as a homemaker. While raising her children she always kept a journal that could turn life events into poetry. Once her children were grown, she pursued her education and began her career as an EKG technician at Hurley Medical Center and later at March Coating where she later retired. Both parents were youth group leaders in their local church as well as teaching several levels of Sunday School. Both parents were also involved in basketball as well as softball with their daughters in church. Not only was Nancy a mother to her own family, she was a neighborhood mom, always welcoming others and offering a place where everyone felt comfortable and loved. After retirement, she found enjoyment playing bingo, she also had a deep passion for genealogy and loved sharing stories about her childhood and keeping cherished memories alive for generation to come. Nancy's love and legacy live through her six children. Cheryl A. Bond of Flint, Deborah K. Spain of Ormond Beach, FL, Sheila J. Peterson of Murfreesboro, TN, Vicky M. and Curtis Stanke of Flint, MI, Robert H. Spain Jr. of Flint, Joshua J. Spain of Flint, MI. Nancy also leaves behind several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, all of whom will carry a part of her legacy forward. Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband Howard, grandson James R. McClendon, great grandson Timothy Loll, her parents, all of her siblings, Milton, John, Jean, Joy, and Sue. Though she will be deeply missed, the love she gave and the memories she created will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever. Until we meet again, Rest In Peace. You will always be loved forever, remembered and never forgotten. |
