ACKERMAN, Hazel L. – of Southbranch, formerly of Flint, age 87, passed away October 28, 2015 at Stonegate Health Campus in Lapeer. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00AM Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Davison United Methodist Church, 207 E. Third St.; Rev. Kevin Miles officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Burial of cremated remains will be in Evergreen Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be 4-8PM Friday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Auxiliary Post 7435.
Hazel was born in Linden, MI on July 30, 1928, daughter of the late Edward and Goldie (Crane) Brewer. She married Leroy Ackerman on September 6, 1947. Hazel was active with the Auxiliary VFW Post in Hale, MI where she served as secretary. She attended Davison United Methodist Church and participated in the Hale area neighborhood watch. Hazel enjoyed crocheting and knitting and was a sales associate for Arcade Florist in Flint.
Hazel is survived by her husband of 68 years, Leroy Ackerman; children, Marsha Ackerman, Gary (Sheryl) Ackerman, Bruce (Barbara) Ackerman; grandchildren, Matt (Sarah), Ellyn, John, Jack (Mariah), Taylor; great-grandchildren, Michael, Jasper; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her three sisters, Beatrice Smith, Sally Corven, Elaine Lewis.
