Larry F. Dowland of Flushing, age 59, left to be home with his Savior on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Avalon Hospice, Flint. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at the Community Baptist Church, 3104 N. Oak Rd., Davison. Pastor Daryl Taylor will officiate. Burial will be at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at Rossell Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until time of the service Wednesday at the church.
Larry was born in Flint, MI on August 3, 1951, the son of Floyd and Olive (Tyler) Dowland. He was a member of the Community Baptist Church, Davison. He had worked in plant protection at GM Fisher 1. He then owned a jewelry store in Flint, “Gold and Diamond Designers”, which he enjoyed and allowed him to express his creativeness in his custom-designed jewelry. His family was honored to share his academic achievement of maintaining a 4.0 G.P.A. while at Lansing Community College. He was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Society and the Honors Society. He also was a member of the National Audubon Society. Larry will be remembered for his love he had for life and his kind and gentle heart. He will be so deeply missed.
Larry is survived by: sister, Kathy Dowland and Gary Roper of Flushing; brother, Gerald and wife Michelle Dowland of Falmouth, MI; nephews and nieces, Shawn, Keith, Olivia, Jered, and Danielle. He was preceded in death by his parents.
