John Clinton Coomer (Johnny), age 54 passed away Thursday, May 25, 2023. He was born November 12, 1968 in Flint, Michigan to Tom and Ellie (Mainprize) Coomer.
Johnny attended Bentley Schools in Burton, MI. After graduation, he worked as an iron worker building various towers and buildings. He was a member of the Iron Workers Union Local #25 in Novi, Michigan. He enjoyed all genres of music, traveling, history, researching various subjects, hiking, mountain/rock climbing, online gaming and bicycling. Johnny’s love of bicycling inspired him to ride his bike from the Flint area, all the way to Traverse City simply for the bragging rights. He was extremely proud of the numerous recognitions he received from the American Red Cross for the several gallons of blood he donated throughout his life. Johnny had a love of flying and had obtained his pilot’s license. When he was younger, he and his friends would begin carving small pumpkins the week before Halloween. On Halloween night, they would take all the carved pumpkins to the cemetery and light them on all the graves of the young children who were not able to celebrate getting candy that night.
He is preceded in death by his father Tom Coomer and brother-in-law Michael Love.
John is survived by his Mother Ellie Coomer of Alvin, TX, sister Penny Love of Flint, MI, brother Russell (Natalie) Coomer of Fenton, MI, sister Tonya (Jeff) Giddings of Flint, MI, brother Richard Kelly of San Bernadino, CA, sister Tammy (Brett) Guidry of Alvin, TX, stepson Joshua Ozanich of Michigan, stepson Dakota Ozanich of Michigan, stepson Alex Ozanich of OK , nieces and nephews Jennifer Love, Nabrina Coomer, Amanda Kelly, Jessica Demars, Joshua Giddings, Thomas Coomer, Tayler Guidry, Kaile Guidry and Dillyn Guidry, several aunts, uncles and extended family members.
Cremation has taken place and no public service will be held.
