GELLATLY, David L. – Of Grand Blanc, age 81, died Monday, September 12, 2016 at his residence.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Faith Lutheran Church, 12534 Holly Road, Grand Blanc, Pastor Jonathan Moyer officiating.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to Faith Lutheran Church.
Visitation 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Mr. Gellatly will be at the church from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service.
David was born in Flint, Michigan on January 18, 1935, the son of the late George and Bernice Gellatly.
He married Betty Jean Coleman on April 28, 1956 and she preceded him in death on April 3, 2004.
David graduated from Bendle High School in 1959 and served as Class President for 4 years.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a former member of the Flint Rotary Club and the Flint Golf Club. He was currently a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
Mr. Gellatly was employed by Detroit Ball Bearing, as a District Manager for 40 years, retiring in 1997.
Surviving are his miniature Schnauzer, Becky;
sister, Beatrice and husband Paul Haag of Saginaw;
several nieces and nephews, Susan Peel, Vern (Vickie) Hill, Barry (Julie) Peel, Robin (Jeanine) Peel, Delana Groce, Julie (Chuck) Melton, Brian (Tammy) Hill, Shawn (Max) Williamson, DruAnn MacPherson, Chris (Angie) Haag and Andrea (Jim)Jezak.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Bernice Gellatly; son, David Gellatly; sisters, Barbara Peel and Betsy Hill.
