Barb was born in Cadillac, Michigan, on February 15, 1928, the daughter of the late Arthur and Ethel (Ayers) Erickson. In 1956, she moved to the Flint area, where she would make a lifetime of cherished memories. On August 18, 1963, she married Richard Freeman, and together they shared many wonderful years filled with love, laughter, adventure, and countless treasured memories.

Barb lived life to the fullest and never hesitated to enjoy the things that brought her happiness. She was an accomplished bowler and proudly held the distinction of being Flint’s top lady bowler in 1958. She also loved golf, and one of her most memorable accomplishments on the course was achieving a hole-in-one at Rolling Hills Golf Club in Lapeer. Barb had a special love for collie dogs and took great pride in raising them over the years.

Giving back to her community was also important to Barb. She generously volunteered her time at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2427 in Lapeer, where she formed many lasting friendships. She enjoyed snowmobiling, traveling throughout the United States with Richard in their motorhome, and taking trips to the casino. Above all else, though, Barb treasured the people in her life. Her friends and family were her greatest source of joy, and she cherished every opportunity to spend time with those she loved.

Barb will be remembered for the many lives she touched, the friendships she made, and the wonderful memories she created throughout her long and meaningful life. Her adventurous spirit, generous heart, and love for her family will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will live on through the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the love she gave so freely.

Barb is survived by her son, Bob (Linda) Beckelic; 4 grandchildren, Bryan (Joanie) Beckelic, Scott (Elaine) Beckelic, Melissa (Mike) Glasgow and Ben (Erin) Smock; 6 great-grandchildren, Adrean (Tommy) Elliott, Kyle (Somer) Beckelic, Brooklyn Beckelic, Josie Beckelic, Abigail Glasgow and Vivien Smock; 7 great-great-grandchildren, Thomas, Riley, Savanna, Brody, Lukas, Ryan and John; sister-in-law, Jo Freeman; special loved ones, Larry and LuaJuana VanHorn; many nieces, nephews, other loving family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Ethel Erickson; husband, Richard Freeman; 3 siblings, Arthur (Leona) Erickson, Lois (Donald) Beckelic and baby sister, Eileen Erickson; 2 in-laws, Jim Freeman and Dave (Dolly) Freeman.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt and sincere appreciation to the entire staff at Lapeer Medical Care Facility (Suncrest) for the compassionate, loving care they provided to our mom during the past two years. We are especially grateful for the kindness they showed her and for the many friendships she made during her time there. The family would also like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice for their gentle care and for helping to keep Barb comfortable during her final days. Your compassion and kindness will never be forgotten.
