David Douglas MacDonald, age 91, of Grand Blanc, Michigan passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025.
David was born in Flint, Michigan on June 28, 1933, to the late Edgar and Leda (Putman) MacDonald. He graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1952 and proudly served his country in the United States Marines Third Air Wing from 1953-1956. David held a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Michigan-Flint and worked for Grand Blanc Fisher Body for over 30-years retiring as the Supervisor of Accounting. Following retirement from GM, David worked as a consultant for National Rubber and co-owned the Genesee County die-cutting firm, Premier Die Cutting.
He was an amazing man who enjoyed golfing and hockey. David, along with his beloved late wife, Jean, enjoyed travelling and going on cruises, and after retirement they were enthusiastic residents of the Villages, FL. for 16 years. David was very loved, and will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who had the privilege to know him.
David leaves behind to cherish his memory, his children Dana MacDonald (Patricia McGirr) and Marigrace Cole (Kenneth); grandson Karl (Elizabeth) Cole; great granddaughter Amy Jean Cole; sister Dawn Parr; and many nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean and brothers Dale and Dean McDonald. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the University of Michigan-Flint.
An inurnment with military honors for David will be held Friday, June 27, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd, Holly, Michigan. |
