SLADE, Richard Lark – Of Otisville, age 74, died Thursday, November 9, 2017 at his residence.
Funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2017
Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road,
Pastor Eric D. Slade and Pastor Suzette M. Slade co-officiating.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to the Wounded Warriors Project.
Visitation 4-8 p.m. Monday and 11 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Richard was born in Flint, Michigan on January 16, 1943, the son of the late Raymond and Mary (Lewis) Slade.
On September 10, 1965 he married Mary Lee Neumeyer in Germany.
He served his country in the U.S. Army’s First Air Calvary during the Vietnam War and was also in the Presidential Guard for President Kennedy.
He enjoyed fishing and traveling to Florida in the winter.
He was active in local gas and oil exploration as an owner and investor.
Richard retired from GM in 2003.
Surviving are wife, Mary;
sons, Eric D. and wife Suzette Slade,
Mark D. Slade and Matthew L. Slade;
grandchildren, Kasey (Tim) Pruett, Kristopher (Kayleen) Slade, Cameron Slade, Brendan Slade, MaKayla Slade and Austin Slade;
great-grandson, Kaiden Slade;
brother, William (Connie) Slade;
sisters, Katherine Atwell, Carol (Derek) Frakes and Marianne Cullen;
sisters-in-law, Charlene Slade and Linda Neumeyer;
brother-in-law, Richard (Roseann) Neumeyer;
many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Andrew Slade; brother, Charles Slade and sister, Ramona Czykyski.
