Martindale, Jerry M., of Flushing Township, age 75, died on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at Covenant Healthcare in Saginaw.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at Caterer Family Funeral Home (formerly Rossell). Burial to follow at Birch Run Township Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, July 20th at the funeral home and from 11 a.m. on Tuesday until the time of service.
Jerry was born in Flint, Michigan on January 5, 1951, the son of the late Glenn Dean Jr. and Edna Mae (Raleigh) Martindale. He was raised and attended school in Flushing, Michigan. He learned the value of hard work growing up on a farm and carried those skills throughout his life. Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked in a variety of professions; Buick, house building, installing/servicing home furnaces, and many years as a Heavy Equipment Operator. Retiring with Operating Engineers Local 324. Jerry was a true jack of all trades, he could build or fix just about anything, building two of his own homes. Jerry had a love for Allis-Chalmers tractors and was skilled at restoring several of them over the years along with restoring classic cars and trucks. He also enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, spending time at Skidway Lake, traveling to Arizona in winters and being in the company of his family and friends.
He is survived by his sister, Jane Kerr of Griffith, Indiana; brother, Dallas (Ruth) Martindale of Bancroft, Michigan; brother-in-law, Michael (Michel) LaRosa; nieces and nephews, Amy Martindale, Jerry V. Martindale, Nikol LaRosa, Justin (Janessa Castillo) LaRosa, Lynn LaRosa, Joshua (Elizabeth) Kerr, Julie (John) Reiner, Scott Martindale and Jill (David Chavez) Martindale; 24 great nieces and nephews; 9 great-great nieces and nephews; special uncle, Donald Martindale of Oklahoma, formerly of Burton, Michigan; several cousins and lifelong friends, Russ Stilson and Ron Horning; and beloved dog, Maggie.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Loretta (Klipa) Martindale; brother, Pat D. Martindale; sister, Betty LaRosa; and nephew, Kurt Martindale.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jerry’s memory are suggested to the Genesee County Humane Society or the American Stroke Foundation. |
