Maxine Elizabeth Serr
Age 89 of Corunna passed away Saturday, October 3, 2015 at McLaren Flint.
Funeral Services will be held at 11am Thursday October 8, 2015, at Nelson-House Funeral Home with Pastor David Strobe and Pastor Janet Larner. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Pine Tree Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 10am until time of service.
Maxine was born March 10, 1926 in Owosso, the daughter of Harry and Frances (Cords) Brown .
She graduated from Owosso High School.
Maxine was a member of Corunna United Methodist Church.
She married Frederick "Bud" Serr in Owosso on January 12, 1946; he predeceased her on September 23, 2008.
Maxine was a homemaker; she briefly worked for Redmond's.
Maxine was an avid golfer, golfing at various courses throughout the United States. She was the Lincoln Hills Country Club Ladies Golf Champion in Ludington, Michigan. Maxine enjoyed traveling with her husband especially to Orange Beach Alabama. She also loved to watch Nascar with Jeff Gordon being her favorite driver.
Maxine is survived by her children, Joann (William) Westenbarger of Flushing; Janet (Hartwell) Pelton of Flushing; Frederick Peter (Denise) Serr of Flint; four granddaughters Jennifer (Stephen) Wright of West DesMoines, Iowa, Janet Lynn (John) Fras of Flushing, Michigan, Kelli Serr (Luke) of Sunfield, Michigan and Krystal (Travis) Bushell of Flint, Michigan; six cherished great-grandchildren Claire-18-University Freshmen, John-15- High School Freshmen, Harry and Jade-5- Curious Kindergarteners, Rocky-2- Precocious Toddler and Kyler-1- and on the move; and sisters, Donna Ainsworth of Owosso and Joan Ward of Florida; several nieces and nephews and many loving family and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, her parents and her sister Betty Shell.
Memorial contributions are suggested to United Methodist Church in Corunna.
