Tom Jeffrey Piercy, age 65, died after a courageous battle with lung cancer on Saturday, October 24, 2020, at his home in Grand Blanc, Michigan.

Tom is survived by his wife, Diane of 30 years; his children: Dawn Whitaker (Steve), Jason Duncan (Heather), Brady Duncan, Scott Piercy (Michelle), Melissa Hicks (Jason), and Zachary Piercy; his Mother Lillian MacKenzie; 4 brothers: Jim Edwards, Mark MacKenzie, Raymon Wener, John Wener, and 1 sister: Dorothy Jo Epps; 9 Grandchildren; and 3 Great Grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, Joe L. Pearcy.

Tom was born on October 30, 1954 in Flint, Michigan, to parents Lillian MacKenzie and Joe Pearcy. He graduated from Mt. Morris High School, Mt. Morris, Michigan and later graduated from Baker College with a Bachelor’s degree. Tom worked for General Motors for 47 years. He started with General Motors as a Welder Repairman then progressed to Senior Project Engineer Press/Automation who traveled extensively to different GM plants.

Tom was a great family man and a loving father. He had amazing faith and always had a positive outlook and attitude. He married Diane Duncan on August 31, 1990 and the couple created a blended family with 6 children.

Tom found great pleasure in being able to help others. He dedicated countless hours to the grounds maintenance crew at Mount Hope Church. Tom and Diane were Crown Financial Leaders at the church. He was BSA Leader for Troop 335 Grand Blanc. He worked as a security guard, owned multiple small businesses, and ran a full marathon in Columbus, Ohio in 1995. Tom had a passion for airplanes, guns, knives, and automobiles. These passions led to exploring countless museums, air shows, gun and knives shows, and car shows. He also enjoyed traveling to visit National Parks, visiting with all his children and grandchildren, preparing elaborate firework displays for numerous family gatherings, and researching his family genealogy. His family and friends will always remember him as a hardworking, loyal, dedicated, kind, and gentle person. Everyone knew that Tom valued people. He enjoyed making people feel loved and appreciated. Tom never let negative circumstances hold him down. He created a wonderful life for himself and his family. He instilled in all of his children solid family values and taught them skills that would be a benefit for their whole lives. He was a behind the scenes kind of guy that made sure things would go as planned and didn’t need recognition.

A celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday, October 31, 2020, at 12:00pm at Mount Hope Church - 8363 Embury Rd., Grand Blanc, MI 48439. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Tom’s life.
