ABBOTT, Maxine Rose- of Clio, age 84, died Friday, March 21, 2014 at Medilodge of Montrose. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Wednesday March 26, 2014 at the O’Guinn Family funeral home in Clio. Pastor Jim Horn officiating. Cremation to follow. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3-8 pm and Wednesday from 11 am until the time of services at 1 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Church of God or Heartland Hospice of Flint.
Maxine was born August 5, 1929 in Battle Creek to the late Jack and Viola (Winkler) Minnow. She had resided in the Clio area since 1955. Maxine married Alfred Abbott on January 21, 1947. He preceded her in death on October 10, 2005. She worked at Hamady Bros. for 20 years before retiring in 1984. Maxine was a Queen of the Red Hat Society, member of the American Legion and attended the Community Church of God. She enjoyed sewing, watching television and most of all time spent planning for and attending any event with her family.
Surviving are: son, Arron (Jane) Abbott of Clio; daughter, Kathleen Taylor of Clio; grandchildren, David Abbott & Morgan Goff, Jodi (Aaron) Thompson, Sarah Abbott & Travus Brummette, Robert (Rebecca) Taylor, Teresa (Anthony) Perge, Bryan Abbott & Sara Nearing; great-grandchildren; Mason, Austin, Drew, Isabella, Hayden; brothers, Ken (Paula) Glidden of Battle Creek, Richard (Vicki) Glidden of Battle Creek; sisters, Dianna (Ronald) Johnson of Clio, Ann (Dale) Land of Charlotte, Patricia Pacillo of Battle Creek; sister-in-law, Virginia Aurand of Battle Creek; many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a brother Lewis Case of Dearborn. Special thanks to Heartland Hospice and Medilodge for your care.
