HAWKINS, Gerald K., Sr. "Hawk" - Age 78, of Swartz Creek, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2025. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, February 20, 2025 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton (The service will be live stream and can be viewed via Gerald's obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com). Deacon Ron Kenney officiating. Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday from 4-8 PM, where a V.F.W. Memorial Service will be held at 7 PM and Thursday from 10 AM until the time of the service. Those desiring may make contributions to Fenton V.F.W. Curtis Wolverton Post #3243, 1148 N. Leroy St., Fenton, MI 48430.

Gerald was born March 16, 1946 in Durand, the son of Chesley Henry and Geneva (Ordiway) Hawkins. He was a 1964 graduate of Fenton High School. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the United States Marine Corp. He married Bethany Adele Klamert December 30, 2002 in Ringold, GA. Gerald had resided in Swartz Creek for the past 26 years coming from Argentine. He retired in 1995 from GM Flint Assembly after 30 years of service, working in the Fire Prevention Department; he also had worked at Wolcott Mill in Argentine. He was a life member and past Commander of the Fenton V.F.W. Curtis Wolverton Post #3243 where he also served on the Honor Guard. He also was a former member of the Fenton Masonic Lodge, the Argentine Fire and Rescue where he was the Assistant Fire Chief and an EMT and was a member of the National Fire Academy. He taught EMT training at University of Michigan, Adult Education.

Surviving are: his wife, Bethany; children, Gerald K. (Paula) Hawkins II of Petosky, Laura (Louie) Berry of Howell and Angela Dishaw of Lakeview; 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; brother, John (Kathy) Hawkins of Durand; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chesley and Geneva Hawkins; grandson, Patrick Davis III; brothers, Peter and Richard Hawkins; and sister, Rachel Green. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
