Passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday August 8, 2011 at the age of 90. Gerda was born on September 18, 1920 in Raudnig, Czechoslovakia. From 1946 to 1956 Gerda worked in the Central Finance & Accounting office for the U.S. Army in Europe. After moving to Flint Gerda was employed by several businesses in the Flint area. Gerda has lived in the Bay City area for the past 20 years. Gerda was married in Flint on December 12, 1958 to John Nicholas, who preceded her in Jan- uary of 1978. She is survived by her son (Nick), daughter in-law (Cheryl), grandson (Jon), sister E.V. Broniak, niece R. Remington, and a great niece and two great nephews.
Funeral and committal services will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday August 10, 2011 at the Auburn Chapel of the Cunningham-Taylor Funeral Homes, Inc. Rev. Robert G. Schmidt will officiate. Private burial will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery, Williams Twp. Gerda's family will receive friends at the Auburn Chapel on Wednesday from 1:30 p.m. until time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Humane Society.
