Grace Marie Jackett was born on September 30, 1942, in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Roland and Florence (Maxwell) Dyer. She graduated in 1961 from Bendle High School. Grace worked as a cashier at many different locations, including the IGA in Clio and Farmer Jack. She also worked at Mitchell’s Supermarket until it’s closure in 1998, as well as Menards for over 13 years until her well-earned retirement in 2020. She enjoyed talking with customers and creating new friendships with her colleagues. She married Donald Jerome Jackett, on May 2, 1964. The two were blessed with six children that Grace would cherish and love forever. Sadly, Donald preceded her in passing on August 12, 1986.
Grace was a longtime member of the Mt. Morris Lioness Club. Additionally, she also was a Girl Scout Leader, and the Cub Scout Den Leader. In her free time, she enjoyed creating her “Quarantine Cards by Gracie” by coloring in different images, reading various Nicholas Sparks and Debbie Macomber novels, and watching her favorite shows on the Game Show Network, including America Says, The Perfect Line, and The Chase. Grace also found joy in completing word search puzzles and playing games, such as Uno and Left Center Right. Most of all, she found peace spending time with her family and creating new memories. Family gatherings were her absolute favorite, as she got to be surrounded by those she loved most. Grace would also spend time with her family outside the house by going on many long road trips with her children, going and exploring anywhere she could get to in a car.
Left to cherish her memory are her “six-pack” children: Teri and husband, Russell Homan, Daniel Jackett, Tressa Jackett, Bethany and husband, Bruce Pitt, Christopher and wife, Tammy Jackett, and Joe Jackett; her grandchildren: Joshua Homan and fiance, Susan, Matthew Homan, Andrew Pitt, Sarah Pitt, Olivia Jackett, Jonah Jackett, and Amelia Jackett; her great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Calvin, and Avrie Homan; her “remaining q-tip” siblings: Florence and husband, Bob Young, Carl and wife, Joanne Dyer, Beverly and husband, Dan Isaguirre, Verna Taylor, Robert and wife, Jan Dyer; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends.
Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Jackett; her parents: Roland and Florence Dyer; her grandson, Noah Jackett; and her niece, Becky Dyer. |
