DEXEL, Ward “Bud” Gilbert – of Mackinaw City, age 89, passed away September 30, 2015 at his daughter Jennifer’s home in Mackinaw City, MI. A Funeral Service will be held 1 PM Monday, October 5, 2015 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Pastor Dave Wallis officiating. Burial will be in Maple Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 PM Sunday and 12-1 PM Monday. A Memorial Service will be held 3 PM Saturday, October 10 at Church of the Straits, 307 N. Huron Ave, Mackinaw City, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Genesee County or the Church of the Straits in Mackinaw City.
Ward was born in Detroit, MI on January 31, 1926, son of the late Edward and Florence (DePlanta) Dexel. He married Evelyn Haas and she preceded him in death in November 1982. Ward was a real estate owner/broker of Dexel Realty Company for over 55 years and was the owner and operator of Tiffany’s Antique Gallery for 15 years. He retired as a Tax Commissioner for the State of Michigan after 24 years of service. Ward was a member of the Church of the Straits in Mackinaw City, MI, the Sloan Museum and a patron of Whaley Historical House.
Ward is survived by children, Jennifer (Terry Davis) Dexel, Cynthia (Dave) Marovich; grandchildren, Kristoffer (Sarah) Sugg, Jamie (William) Boyd, Keenan (Christine) Sugg, Kelly (Erin) Sugg; great-grandchildren, Makena, Kristoffer, Emma, Isla, Bella; brother, James (Bunny) Dexel; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; beloved dog, Miss Daisy. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Dorothy Kinney, Jack Dexel and Robert (Bob) Dexel.
