BARRETT, Maxine Alice – of Clio, age 96, died Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Medilodge of Montrose. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Pastor Ed Emmerling officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 from 1-8 PM and on Wednesday from 12PM until time of service at 1PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Charity of Choice.
Maxine was born June 12, 1922 in Flint, Michigan to the late Roy and Celia (O’Dell) Grace. She grew up in Flint, Michigan and graduated from Beecher High School with the class of 1940. On March 1, 1941 she married Robert Barrett in Flint, Michigan and he preceded her in death in 2001. Maxine was a member of the Flint Junior Sorosis, Child Study Group, Red Hats, Writers Group in Rose City and the Clio Poetry Group. She enjoyed knitting, painting, and woodcarving. Maxine also liked playing cards, mahjjong, writing poetry and books. However, her greatest joy in life was her family and grandchildren.
Surviving are: Children, Robert (Karen) Barrett, Diane (Paul) Zofchak, Tom Barrett; Grandchildren, Jason (Christine) Barrett, Bob (Kelly) Barrett, Steven (Robin) Zofchak, James (Elizabeth) Zofchak; Great Grandchildren, Cody, Alise, Marco, Lalo, Ashley, Vickie, Thomas, Ethan, Austin, JD, Calyx. She was preceded in death by her Parents; Husband, Robert; Siblings, Roy Grace, Nadine Pritchard, Dorothy Young.
